Experience, Training & Values
A writer, activist, and educator raised in Massachusetts, Mairead earned a B.A. in Writing, Literature, and Publishing at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She continued her studies with intensive literature and poetry programs at Richmond, The American International University in London, England before starting a career in publishing at Condé Nast in New York City.
She obtained an M.A. in Education from Brooklyn College, in Brooklyn, New York, and is certified as an Emotionally Intelligent Leadership trainer, Conflict Resolution and Negotiation workshop facilitator, Peer Support counselor, and TESOL/TESL/TEFL certified instructor.
Her work includes education in the non-profit sector at the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, training national youth activists, and building educational partnerships in Cuba, Mexico, and Brazil. She continued her education experience by leading arts education courses including assisting playwriting workshops with the Harvey Milk High School, youth development training with The All Stars Project, launching enrichment programs at The Boys Club of New York, The Bell Foundation, Academic Achievement, Promise Academy and Summit Public Schools, in California.
Balancing communication, literacy, wellness practices, and the arts she offers workshop facilitation, writing and curriculum consultation services.
